Wow, a long time with no posts! I did tear up a LaserWriter Plus and got the pickup rollers out of it, but the rollers have already started to turn into goo. I might freeze them. But I don't have confidence I can install rollers into a LW plus and get it all back together.
I made 3 good LaserWriters out of a IIg and 3 IIf's. It turns out you can clean the pickup rollers without taking it apart. I used just a damp rag and a spray of windex. The IIf is my main printer now. No luck on the LaserWriter Select 360. Bought a cheap logic board but it turned out that is not the problem.
I got my Color Classic, and I have a 575 board to upgrade it. Will probably go the ResEdit route for video compatibility. Also got another Quadra 700 with A/UX installed and the 2 installer disks. (My first Quadra 700 has Debian Linux installed, not very practical).
Been working at the school on 5x00 all-in-one macs; most just need batteries, memory, and OS upgrade to 8.6 to make them useful in the school (the new version of Accelerated Reader requires 8.6, and 8.6 requires 24M of memory -- my minimum is 32M). Sad to see all the 580's going out of service. Many were used for Accelerated Reader last year. I've been moving their batteries and 16M SIMMs to the 5200 and 5300's.
I plan to junk the PowerBase because it doesn't work. The memory should help in a 5500.
